How the Nepal Floods Are Affecting Children and Youth

Severe flooding in Nepal has damaged homes, schools, health facilities, water systems, and essential infrastructure, disrupting the safety, education, and well-being of children and youth. Those who have been displaced or separated from parents or caregivers may face additional barriers to protection, essential services, and recovery. ICDR’s Nepal flood relief campaign helps address these barriers through education support, essential care, and community-led recovery. ICDR International is raising funds to support children and youth affected by the Nepal floods, including those facing barriers to education, care, and recovery. Donations help provide school supplies, tuition assistance, uniforms, books, safe learning resources, nutrition support, counseling referrals, and other essentials that enable children to continue their education with dignity. Alongside immediate relief, the campaign aims to expand access to income-generating skills training for older youth and caregiving households. Based on locally identified priorities and available programs, training may include tailoring, agricultural support, computer basics, small-business development, handicrafts, repair work, and other practical skills that strengthen confidence, income opportunities, and community resilience.

Education, Care, and Recovery Support for Children and Youth:

  • Displacement and family separation can leave children without stable housing, school materials, and dependable daily support.
  • Damage to schools and communities can interrupt education and increase the risk of exploitation, harmful work, and long-term poverty.
  • Safe learning spaces, school supplies, nutrition, and psychosocial support can restore routine and strengthen recovery.
  • Locally identified skills-training priorities can help older youth and caregiving households expand income opportunities, rebuild livelihoods, and strengthen community resilience.
  • Donations can connect urgent assistance with longer-term education, protection, and recovery.
  • Donate to Support Nepal Flood Relief and Recovery:
