ENABLE PEOPLE TO DEFEND DALIT RIGHTS AND PREVENT CASTE DISCRIMINATION
Justice can only be achieved at both the grassroots and policy level. It is crucial to address the disparities present in the rights afforded to Dalit and other caste-affected communities versus those afforded to populations writ large, and it is often the case that such disparities need to be tackled at the highest levels via courts or legislation. ICDR advocates for the Dalit community on both a national and global scale, and through its network of lawyers provides caste-affected communities with pro-bono or low-cost legal services.
ICDR President DB Sagar was interviewed by the Associated Press as well as Nepali TV channels such as Nepal Television and Indigenous Television

Fighting Caste-based Employment Discrimination, Labor Exploitation, and Injustice in the USA: August 24, 2022
Washington, D.C., Civil rights leaders, and legal experts urged Congress and government agencies to interpret Title 7 of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 to encompass caste discrimination. Legal experts clarified by giving an example of Case law that caste is protected under the Equality Act. Speakers said, “it is time to push the federal agencies to provide more protection and apply anti-discrimination laws, including Title 7 and Section 1981, to protect against caste-based discrimination in areas of employment. Legal experts appealed to individuals who have experienced caste-based discrimination in the workplace to file these complaints so that federal, state, and local agencies can investigate them.
